About

About Private Hedge & our editorial standards

Private Hedge is an independent risk practice for private investors. We do one thing: we measure the risk in your whole wealth — investments and property — to an institutional standard, and explain it in plain English. We hold no custody of your assets, take no commissions, and sell no products; any connection to your accounts is strictly read-only. We charge one flat fee. Private Hedge Limited is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority: we provide information and risk analytics only, never financial advice or personal recommendations.

Who writes and reviews the journal

The journal is written by Vasileios Amanatidis, co-founder of Private Hedge and a senior risk specialist with 12+ years working with risk-management products for equities and fixed-income desks inside global investment banks. Where a partner risk specialist contributes an article in future, it carries their byline and credentials — and a visible "Reviewed by Vasileios Amanatidis, Senior Risk Specialist" line, because every article is checked and signed off before it is published.

We write within a firm boundary: nothing we publish names or draws on any current or former employer, or on confidential information. Credentials are stated generally ("global investment banks"), and the views in each article are the author's own, in a personal capacity.

Our editorial standards

Every article follows the same rules, kept in a published style guide:

  • Plain and measured. First person, UK English, no hype, no jargon, no predictions.
  • One idea, answered directly. Each piece opens with a self-contained key takeaway — the answer, up top — and sticks to a single concept.
  • Real, sourced numbers. Every article carries at least one specific figure, and factual claims are linked to an authoritative primary source (for example the FCA, ONS, Bank of England, or a named index).
  • Illustrative, and labelled as such. Worked examples are marked as illustrative, with their assumptions shown, and are never presented as real client results.
  • Nothing to sell. We analyse; you decide. Articles never recommend a specific investment, fund or product, and never promise performance.

Tax and cross-border structuring sit outside what we do; where they come up, we say so and point to an appropriately authorised professional.

Dates, reviews and corrections

Each article shows a published date and, where it has been revised, an updated date, so you can see how current it is. If we get something wrong, we want to fix it: we correct errors promptly, and where a change is material we note it and update the date rather than quietly editing the page.

Spotted a mistake, or a source that needs refreshing? Email hello@privatehedge.co and we will look into it.

How we are paid — and why it matters

Our independence is structural, not a promise. Because we take no commissions and sell no products, there is no product we are quietly steering you towards, in the journal or anywhere else. The one flat fee is the whole of what we earn from you. That is what lets the writing stay honest about risk.
